Anxiety Treatment

The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.

Do You Feel Like You Can’t Slow Down And Stop Overthinking Everything?

Are you worried that you won’t be successful or accomplish what you set out to do?

Is fear of failure holding you back?

Does it seem like you can’t make a decision without endlessly second-guessing yourself?

Maybe you feel like you can’t slow down and stop overthinking things. Perhaps your thoughts are always racing and you never get the rest you need. But as tired as you are from overworking yourself, fear of failure drives you to work even harder and rest even less. Unwilling to live with uncertainty, you probably find yourself trying to control too much in life—your relationships, responsibilities, and everything else. Deep down, you may ask: Why can’t I loosen up? Why can’t I let go of all my stress and just enjoy life like everyone else?

Unresolved Trauma May Be At The Root Of Your Anxiety

Oftentimes, anxiety stems from unresolved traumatic experiences. Memories that were too overwhelming to process may be putting stress on your life today. There may have been toxic or abusive relationships that make it difficult to trust other people. As a result, maybe you have a hard time making new connections and opening up to others.

If you wish you could stop second-guessing yourself and worrying about whether or not things will work out, we would be honored to help you. Anxiety treatment with Reaching My Destination is a chance to unwind, relax, and learn new coping skills for managing your symptoms.

Modern Society Leaves Many People In A State Of Fear And Dread

Anxiety is a normal human response to stressful situations. Everyone struggles with it at some point. It’s when anxiety starts to take over your life that it becomes a problem. If anxiety affects you every day and holds you back from living the life you want, that’s a sign of an anxiety disorder.

Anxiety often stems from unresolved traumatic experiences like abuse, neglect, or discrimination. In the US today, millions of people struggle with trauma on both a personal and collective level. Between systemic racism, police brutality, and environmental destruction, our country is a breeding ground for traumas of all kinds. Social media exposes us to shocking and violent events on a daily basis. Our brains become too overwhelmed to digest these experiences, leaving us in a perpetual state of fear and dread.

Many People Are Afraid To Seek Therapy And Struggle To Find Clinicians Who Understand Them

For many minority groups, it can be difficult to seek mental health treatment. People of color who suffer from anxiety often encounter clinicians who don’t understand the impact of racial trauma. Many people tell them that prayer and a positive attitude are enough to get rid of mental health issues.

Although prayer can be helpful, it is not a magical cure-all—you cannot simply “pray away” anxiety or depression. Just as you would seek a doctor for a medical problem, it’s perfectly natural to seek a counselor for an emotional one. Struggling with anxiety is hard and you deserve the most caring and supportive treatment possible.

Anxiety Treatment Can Help You Slow Down And Find Stillness In The Present

Being stuck in the past can make you depressed; being too focused on the future can make you feel anxious. That’s why anxiety treatment is all about learning to live in the present. Here at Reaching My Destination, we want to help you slow down, find peace in the here and now, and concentrate on what you can control instead of getting hung up on what you can’t.

Our practice provides a safe, judgment-free space to be vulnerable, share your true feelings, and learn to cope with anxiety. If you’re tired of people telling you to just pray or think positively, we want to be the difference-makers in your life. We believe that anxiety is not a sign of weakness and that there is nothing wrong with seeking help for mental health issues while still using prayer to help you cope.

What To Expect In Sessions

It’s tempting to try and suppress anxiety, but doing so makes it worse. True healing means getting to know your fears in a safe and controlled way. As we work together, we will help you learn to be comfortable with being vulnerable and exploring difficult emotions. You will learn to identify your triggers and evaluate whether your stress reactions are helpful or harmful. This will help you develop new coping strategies and avoid making decisions based on fear.

At the same time, we recognize that exploring anxiety can be stressful in and of itself. That’s why we want to give you grounding skills to use in daily life. Our practice draws from a wide range of mindfulness exercises—such as meditation or deep breathing—to help you center yourself when you feel stressed.

Tailoring Your Treatment Plan

One of the main approaches we use for dealing with anxiety is Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). This approach aims to help you understand how your thoughts, feelings and behaviors are connected. For instance, if you have a negative self-image and tend to view yourself as a failure, you may find yourself isolating and shying away from unfamiliar situations. Reframing harmful thoughts and beliefs can help you increase your confidence and take advantage of new opportunities for growth.

By learning new coping mechanisms and reversing negative thought patterns, you can decrease your anxiety symptoms and live a happy, healthy life. No matter how hopeless you feel, you are not alone and we are here to walk with you on your journey to wellness.
